Lobby Artwork for MLK Outpatient Center Installs

Over the last several months I have been project managing the fabrication and installation of the lobby artwork for the new Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Outpatient Center in Los Angeles. The artwork was created by Dominique Moody, an assemblage artist who recently completed an artist-in-residence at the Watts Towers Arts Center and is now an artist-in-residence at Zorthian Ranch.  After months of fabricating, Standard Sculpture was ready to install the artwork this past week. Here are some photos of them maneuvering around a very tight space as they installed the work. The new hospital will celebrate its official opening in April 2014.

Augustus F Hawkins Courtyards makes the top 100!

The CoD+A Awards were established to celebrate design projects that demonstrate the most successful integration of commissioned art into an interior or architectural space. The Awards recognize the importance of collaboration, and honor the design and art professionals whose collective imaginations create the public and private spaces that inspire us (As stated on The Arts Commission's website). The jury selected the top 100 projects out of 433 entries. The coutyards made the top 100! Below is a link to the courtyards as well as a link to all one hundred projects. There are some amazing designs in the group and GriffinMade is honored to be in the mix.coDA_AH
