A series of three artist-led workshops will be held at Florence Library in the Florence-Firestone area of Los Angeles County. Each workshop brings a local artist into the community to teach their art to local youth. The workshops are free, open to ages 18 and under and all supplies will be provided. The first workshop will be this Saturday from 12-4. The youth will learn about mixing warm and cool acrylic colors while painting on upcycled canvas. The three workshops are sponsored by Los Angeles County Public Library. They are meant to connect artists and communities around Los Angeles while also providing a creative outlet to local youth.
The March 23rd painting workshop will be taught by Tamarind Rossetti. Tamarind is an artist and writer living in Los Angeles. Her practice works with languages of memory. Shows include the Neurosciences Institute, SD; Pacific Design Center, LA; Gallery PT, Japan; VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands. MFA Candidate in Public Practice, Otis College of Art and Design, BA in Art Practice/English Literature, UC Berkeley.
