On 10.10.10, Los Angeles had it's first cicLAvia. Seven and half miles of the city was closed off to cars and open to all other forms of transportation. An estimated 100,000 people attended on bikes, rollerblades, skateboards and foot. According to the cicLAvia organizers, "It creates a network of connections between our neighborhoods and businesses and parks with corridors filled with fun." CicLAvia is modeled after the original ciclovia in Bogota, Columbia that draws 2 million people out into the streets every Sunday. The cicLAvia organizers are already planning for several more in 2011 and one every month in 2012.
